Two kite surfers collide mid air over Hayling Island

The Portsmouth RNLI lifeboat was called into action this afternoon and was part of a multi agency rescue operation of Hayling Island following a collision. Emergency services were scambled into service just after 1.30pm on Sunday The call involved two kite surfers who had been involved in a collision over water. The pair who were both injured managed to recover themselves from the water and were treated by Paramedics. The rescue operation was coordinated by the UK coastguard operations centre. The operation involved coastguard teams from Portsmouth and Hayling Island, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance, The rescue helicopter Rescue 175, the RNLI Portsmouth lifeboat and paramedics from South central ambulance service. Two People have been taken to the QA hospital in Portsmouth.
