Baby Brutally Beaten to Death in Shocking Northampton Case

Seven-Week-Old Jamie Suffered Horrific Injuries

In 2013, Jacqueline Parker and her boyfriend, Adam Kightley, faced trial for the brutal murder of baby Jamie Kightley. The seven-week-old infant was admitted to hospital with severe brain injuries and more than 40 fractures and bruises covering his tiny body. Jamie died shortly after arrival, despite desperate medical efforts.

Repeated Abuse Before Baby’s Tragic Death

During his short life, Jamie was violently battered at least twice, possibly three times. The prosecution revealed he was assaulted about two weeks before his death and again just hours prior. Both parents remained silent about who caused the horrific injuries, “hiding behind a wall of silence,” the court heard.

Disturbing Medical Evidence Unveiled

Experts testified Jamie’s injuries were consistent with being grabbed tightly around the middle and violently shaken. The shaking caused bleeding in his eyes and brain damage, which led to respiratory and cardiac arrest – the cause of his death. A post-mortem showed extensive bruising to his head and bleeding around the brain, with a mix of fresh and old injuries.

Sentencing and Early Release

Both Parker and Kightley were convicted and handed seven-year sentences for their roles in Jamie’s death. However, both served only part of their prison terms before being released early, leaving many to question the justice served in this heartbreaking case.
