Police Scotland are investigating after two women were brutally stabbed in Kilmarnock within minutes of each other on Thursday evening.

First Woman Attacked at Hospital Car Park

At 7.45pm, a 39-year-old woman was assaulted in the car park of University Crosshouse Hospital.

Fatal Stabbing Just Miles Away

Less than 20 minutes later, a 24-year-old woman was fatally stabbed on Portland Street, just two miles from the hospital.

Linked Incidents Under Investigation

  • Police say the attacks are connected and are probing the exact circumstances.
  • They are not seeking anyone else in connection with the cases.
  • Authorities confirm there is no ongoing threat to the public.
  • The incidents are not being treated as terror-related.

Tragic Road Crash Adds to the Toll

Shortly after, at around 8.30pm, a 40-year-old man died in a road crash on the C50, just outside Kilmarnock.
