Fatal Collision On The A2 Involving An Hgv Brings Traffic To A Standstill In Kent

Emergency services are at the scene following a crash involving a car and a Royal Mail lorry at around 9.50am, on the westbound carriageway near Cobham services.

Witnesses say the driver of the car was being treated by paramedics at the scene but despite best efforts from Paramedics and Air ambulance doctors the person died at the scene

 

The coastbound carriageway was closed to allow the air ambulance to land and to assist with collision scene investigation work. This is about to reopen. The  Londonbound carriageway is likely to remain closed for serval hours.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service are currently at the scene of a collision on the London-bound carriageway of the A2 near Gravesend.

The collision involving a lorry and car was reported at around 9.50am today and patrols have closed both carriageways while emergency services deal with the incident.

“There is congestion in the area and motorists may wish to consider alternative routes.
