Eight Nabbed After Chaos on Toxteth Streets
Police have swooped on a gang causing mayhem in Toxteth on Saturday night, 5 November. Around 8pm, reports flooded in about youths hurling lit fireworks towards passing cars near Croxteth Road and Princes Gate East by the Princes Park roundabout.
Fireworks, Bin Fires & Road Blockages
- Youths were tossing fireworks into traffic
- Bin fires sparked – at least one wheely bin set alight
- Roads were blocked, causing chaos for drivers
Officers quickly responded, detaining eight suspects. Three were hauled into custody for questioning. The other five were taken home.
Damage to Police Cars and Bus – Officer Hurt
Riotous trouble left police vehicles and a bus damaged. One officer suffered a minor injury in the scuffle. Cheif Inspector Duncan Swan, leading Bonfire Night policing, slammed the reckless behaviour:
“This reckless behaviour caused a great deal of distress to road users in the area and resulted in damage to bins and vehicles, and an injury to one of our officers.”
Police Call for Dashcam Footage & Continued Patrols
“We’ve identified eight suspects. Three are in custody, five returned home,” said Swan. “Anyone driving nearby with dashcam footage should get in touch. We want to reassure locals that officers remain on patrol and will keep the streets safe.”
