Elite Police Divers Put Through Their Paces at Trent Embankment
Volunteer police divers took to the waters last week for routine training exercises at Trent Embankment. These specialist officers juggle their regular duties with intense underwater drills to stay sharp.
One of Just 11 Teams in the UK
The team is among only 11 underwater search units across the country, covering the East Midlands and beyond. Each of the ten qualified divers must complete frequent training dives to keep their skills razor-sharp and be ready for emergency call-outs.
Local Kids Get Up Close with Underwater Heroes
During Tuesday’s exercise, onlookers gathered to watch the action unfold. Among them were children from a nearby nursery who snapped photos with diver PC Steve Craner after he surfaced from the murky depths.
More Than Missing Person Searches
PC James Patterson, Dive Supervisor, revealed: “A lot of people associate our work only with missing person searches, but we also recover crucial evidence discarded in water during crimes.”
