The alleged attack took place on 11 May 2022, while Hawkins was off duty. The victim is someone familiar to him.
Sussex Police Detective Suspended Amid Investigation
Hawkins works as a Detective Constable with Sussex Police but is currently suspended. The incident was reported to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Following the IOPC referral, Sussex Police’s Professional Standards Department launched a local investigation into the matter.
