Knife Crime Team Nabs Big Cocaine Haul in Worksop Car Stop
Suspicious Behaviour Sparks Search
The county’s knife crime unit was out on patrol in Worksop when they clocked a car acting dodgy. Officers pulled over the vehicle on Cheapside around 2.20pm on Monday, March 13, after suspecting drug activity.
Things escalated when the occupants’ strange behaviour prompted a search. That’s when cops struck gold – discovering large amounts of cocaine hidden under one suspect’s clothing.
Cash and Phones Seized
The search didn’t stop there. Officers also found stacks of cash and several mobile phones inside the car, pointing to serious drug dealing on the go.
Two Men Arrested on Drug Charges
Two men, aged 28 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. The county knife crime team’s Sergeant Jonny Groves said:
“This was a great example of the role proactive stop and searches can play in detecting crime that may have otherwise slipped through the cracks.
“Our team utilises this police power daily, patrolling various locations based on intelligence about criminal activity.
“While our primary aim is to catch those carrying knives or weapons, we often uncover linked crimes like drug dealing.”
“We’re pleased to have arrested these suspects, but investigations continue. Anyone with info should call 101 quoting incident 23000153973.”
