Rampage in West Bridgford: Vandal smashes 18 cars – including police vehicle!
Car Mayhem on Byron Road
Chaos erupted in West Bridgford after reports came in of someone deliberately smashing up cars on Byron Road. Officers rushed to the scene just after 1.30am on Wednesday, April 12.
Suspect Nabbed Near Trent Bridge
The cops quickly found and detained a 23-year-old man nearby near Trent Bridge. A thorough search revealed 18 cars with smashed windscreens or damaged wing mirrors.
Police Car and Shop Window Targeted
Among the wrecked vehicles was a police car parked outside West Bridgford Police Station, its wing mirror knocked clean off. Not only that, a shop window on Central Avenue was left damaged in the same incident.
Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
PC Chris Morgan said: “As many as 18 vehicles had their windscreens put through or their wing mirrors damaged during this incident. It really should go without saying but this type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and not what we want to see in our communities at all.”
“We are still in the process of investigating this incident, so we’d ask anyone who has any information that could assist our inquiries to get in touch with us.”
