Police in Glenrothes have launched a manhunt after reckless youths set a small tyre on fire and hurled it onto Western Avenue. The brazen stunt unfolded just before 8pm on Monday, September 25.
Burning Tyre Bounces Across Busy Road
A passerby spotted the flaming tyre bouncing wickedly across the road before coming to rest by the roadside. Witnesses say the teens ran off into nearby woodland, disappearing fast.
Firefighters Quick to Act as Community Speaks Out
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service swiftly doused the blaze, preventing any injuries or damage to passing vehicles. Community Sergeant David McCabe slammed the “reckless act” and warned,
“This was a reckless act and is being treated with the utmost seriousness. It is very fortunate that no one was injured.”
He added that police are closing in on leads as officers track the suspects heading towards Collydean.

Sergeant McCabe urged anyone with information or dash-cam footage to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3457 from September 25. Anonymous tips can also be given via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
