Third Arrest Made and Fourth Car Seized Following Hampshire Car Meet Investigation

Hampshire Police have arrested a third individual and seized a fourth car as part of an ongoing investigation into a large car meet that took place across several locations in Hampshire last weekend.

The vehicle, a white BMW M2, was seized on the night of September 27 after it arrived at a small gathering in Westmead, Farnborough. Officers were already present to liaise with the group at the meet and ensure no issues arose when they identified the car and stopped it.

The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old man from Dorking, Surrey, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. It is alleged that the car had been seen performing doughnuts during the car meet in Southampton on September 21.

Chief Superintendent Darren O’Callaghan commented on the ongoing police efforts:

We have been very clear that we will do all in our power to identify, locate, and arrest people we believe to be involved in dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour at these gatherings. If you don’t want us taking your vehicle and arresting you, then don’t behave recklessly and endanger the lives of others, along with the considerable impact it has on local residents. We will act swiftly and decisively, using all powers available to us to disrupt this behaviour.

The car meet began at Winchester Park and Ride before progressing to Southampton, Eastleigh, Chandler’s Ford, Fareham, and eventually gathering at Southsea seafront shortly after midnight.

Earlier in the week, police seized a BMW M3, a Ford Fiesta, and a Volkswagen Golf, and arrested two individuals in connection with dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour at the event.

The Hampshire Police have stressed that they are committed to tackling dangerous driving and disorderly behaviour associated with such gatherings, using all legal powers at their disposal to maintain public safety and minimize the impact on local communities.

Authorities have urged anyone with further information about the car meet or incidents of reckless driving to contact them to aid the ongoing investigation.
