Six men have been arrested across England following the stunning seizure of half a tonne of cocaine worth a staggering £40 million. The massive haul was discovered dumped on Medmerry Beach near Selsey, West Sussex, sparking a nationwide manhunt led by the National Crime Agency (NCA).
Arrests Made From Luton to Liverpool
- A 39-year-old suspect caught today at Luton Airport
- Earlier this week, another 39-year-old was nabbed in Liverpool
- Other arrests include a 38-year-old in Peterborough, 45-year-old in Bournemouth, 41-year-old in Poole, and 36-year-old in Tilbury, Essex
These latest detentions bring the total number arrested over this colossal drug import to 12. All suspects remain on bail as investigations press on.
Boat Used in Cocaine Smuggling Operation
The drugs were stashed in a rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) found washed ashore on August 19. Authorities believe the vessel was key in smuggling the 500kg cocaine shipment into the UK.
NCA Cracks Down on Drug Network
The NCA vows to continue its relentless probe, aiming to dismantle the entire criminal network behind this international smuggling ring.
“This is a significant blow to organised crime and will disrupt the supply of dangerous drugs on our streets,” said an NCA spokesperson.
