Search Resumes for Missing Man After Boat Capsizes in River Thames
A search has resumed for a man in his 60s who remains missing after a small boat capsized in the River Thames near Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey.
Surrey Police were called to Sunbury Lock at around 8:50 a.m. on Friday following reports that a small rowing boat had capsized. While five others who were on the boat were rescued, the man remains unaccounted for.
Emergency services, including South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) and Surrey Fire and Rescue, attended the scene. Three of the five rescued individuals were taken to the hospital for further checks.

Surrey Police have confirmed that the missing man’s relatives have been informed and are being kept updated as the search continues. A spokesperson said, “Inquiries to establish the full circumstances of what occurred remain ongoing. Sadly, we believe a man in his 60s may still be in the river.”
Chief Inspector Andy Jenkins of North Surrey described the situation as “a very distressing time for all involved” and confirmed that there is no indication of suspicious circumstances or third-party involvement.
