Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage Following Fatal Collision in Poole

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a fatal road traffic collision on the A35 Upton bypass in Poole on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

At around 8:10pm, officers received a report concerning the welfare of a woman walking eastbound on the bypass, heading from Upton toward the Shell garage. Shortly afterward, it was reported that the woman had been involved in a collision with a vehicle.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the road was closed to allow specialist officers to examine the area.

Tragic Loss

The pedestrian, a 24-year-old woman from the Poole area, was taken to the hospital but sadly passed away from her injuries. Police have confirmed that her family is being supported by specially trained officers.

Police Appeal

Police Sergeant Lee Savage from Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit said:
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who tragically lost her life in this collision. We are working tirelessly to understand the circumstances surrounding this incident.”

He added:
“We know there were many witnesses to the incident, and I urge anyone who has not yet spoken to police to come forward. We are particularly keen to hear from motorists who may have seen or captured dashcam footage of the woman walking along the dual carriageway, the driving of other vehicles, or the moments leading up to the collision.”
