Emergency services were called to Bethnal Green Underground Station this evening after a person was struck by a train on the eastbound Central Line.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:20pm at the station located on Cambridge Heath Road, E2 prompting an urgent response from London Underground staff, British Transport Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="182031">British Transport Police (BTP), London Ambulance Service, and specialist incident response units supported by the London Fire Brigade.
Transport for London (TfL) confirmed that services on the Central Line have been suspended eastbound as first responders worked to manage the situation. Passengers were evacuated from the station, and a cordon was put in place to allow paramedics and rescue crews to operate safely.
Disruption and Delays
Commuters travelling during the busy evening rush hour experienced severe disruption, with trains held between stations and delays reported across the wider network. TfL advised passengers to seek alternative routes and check for updates before continuing their journeys.
“We were called to Bethnal Green Underground Station at 5:21pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Officers attended alongside paramedics, and a full investigation is now underway. Updates on the individual’s condition will be provided in due course.”
