A fire has broken out in one of the tunnels at Holborn Underground Station on Covent Garden Tunnels, High Holborn, London

Emergency Response

The incident was reported at around 10:16 pm today (April 1), with the London Fire Brigade (LFB) and other emergency services rushing to the scene. The fire has been identified in Tunnel  within the station complex.

Multiple fire crews and equipment, including breathing apparatus, have been deployed to tackle the blaze. Passengers have been evacuated from the station as a safety precaution, and surrounding areas are currently cordoned off.

Transport Disruption

Holborn Underground Station has been temporarily closed, and services on the affected lines have been suspended. Transport for London (TfL) is advising commuters to use alternative routes and check for updates on their journey.

Statement from London Fire Brigade

A source for the London Fire Brigade said:
“We received a call about a fire in one of the tunnels at Holborn Underground Station. Crews are on the scene working to extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of passengers and staff. We advise the public to avoid the area and follow guidance from emergency personnel.”

At this time, there are no confirmed reports of injuries. Firefighters are conducting a thorough search of the affected tunnel to ensure no one remains inside.
