The family of a man who died following a fatal collision in Plymouth have paid a heartfelt tribute to him, describing him as a “kind, caring and genuine” man loved by all who knew him.
Stephen Hawnton, 63, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the incident on uk/topic/north-prospect/">North Prospect Road on Friday, 11 April.
Family Tribute
In an emotional statement released through police, Stephen’s family said:
“Us as a family are heartbroken and in utter and complete shock for the passing of Steve. He was truly the most kind, caring and genuine man that you would have ever met. The best Son, Husband, Dad and Grandad. He will be missed by all that knew him, especially us as a family.”
“We would like to extend our thanks to all the emergency services and local residents for all their help and support on the day – we will forever be grateful.”
“Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Until we meet again – all our love, forever and always xx.”
Ongoing Enquiries
Emergency services were called to North Prospect Road on Friday afternoon following reports of a collision. Despite best efforts, Stephen was declared deceased at the scene. The road was closed for several hours while officers carried out investigations.
Police have confirmed that while enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing, the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
