A man has been charged following a violent robbery in Stourbridge that left two teenagers injured and sparked concern in the local community.
Arrests and Charges
Ryan Hand, 36, has been charged with robbery and possession of a bladed article. He was remanded in custody and appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 16 April.
A 12-year-old boy was also arrested in connection with the attack. He has since been released on bail with strict conditions while further inquiries continue. The youth’s involvement has raised wider concerns about the increasing role of children in serious violent crime.
Police Statement and Community Response
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said:
“This was a frightening incident and we understand the concern it has caused in the community. We remain in close contact with the teenagers and their families to ensure they receive the support they need.”
The force has launched a full investigation, with officers conducting local enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage.
Local residents have voiced their alarm over growing violence involving knives, particularly near community spaces used by young people. Several have called for increased police patrols and better youth engagement initiatives.
