West Midlands Police Investigate After Gunfire Injures Man in Handsworth

A man is recovering in hospital after being shot in the leg during an early morning incident in Heathfield Road, Handsworth, on Monday, May 27, 2025.

West Midlands Police confirmed they were alerted at around 2:30 AM by ambulance crews after a man in his 20s sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to hospital where his condition is described as non-life-threatening.

A second man, who was present at the scene, was not injured.

Police Launch Investigation and Seek Witnesses

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police issued the following statement:

“We are investigating after a man was injured after shots were fired at two men in Heathfield Road, Handsworth in the early hours of today (Monday).

Officers are carrying out extensive investigations to establish who is responsible, with house-to-house enquiries underway and CCTV being retrieved and reviewed.

We know incidents like this can be concerning, and there will be increased police presence in the area as enquiries continue and to offer community reassurance.”
