Hawkwell Shock: Two Charged After Violent Attack
Two individuals, including a 17-year-old boy and a 51-year-old woman, have been charged with weapons offences following a brutal assault in Hawkwell, Essex. One victim was left with a serious leg injury.
What Went Down in Hawkwell?
Just before 7pm on Friday, 13 June, police rushed to Clements Hall Way after reports that two suspects attacked a group of youths. One victim suffered a serious leg wound and was hospitalised. Thankfully, doctors confirmed the injury was non-life-threatening and won’t cause lasting damage.
Essex Police moved fast, arresting two 17-year-olds – one from London and the other from Leigh-on-Sea – on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH). Searches led to the seizure of weapons linked to the assault.
Charges Laid and Court Dates Set
- 17-year-old from Leigh-on-Sea: Charged with possession of an offensive weapon and remanded in custody. He’s due in Southend-on-Sea Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 16 June.
- Additionally, he’s been bailed on further suspicions, including:
- GBH
- Attempted robbery
- Possessing criminal property
- Involvement in the supply of controlled drugs
- Debbie Pickett, 51, of Rayleigh Drive, Leigh-on-Sea: Also charged with possession of an offensive weapon. She’s been bailed and must appear at Southend-on-Sea Magistrates’ Court on 14 July 2025.
- 17-year-old from London: Bailed until 23 August following suspicions of GBH and attempted robbery.
