Man Held After Woman Found Critically Injured in Forest Gate
A woman in her 40s was found with life-threatening injuries in Forest Gate, sparking a major police inquiry. Officers were called to Romford Road at 3:23 PM on September 6 following reports of an injured person.
Victim Rushed to Hospital
The woman was discovered by the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service and immediately taken to hospital. She remains in critical condition receiving urgent medical care.
Suspect Arrested on Serious Charges
A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, grievous bodily harm, and dangerous driving. He is currently in custody as the investigation continues.
Police Issue Statement and Appeal for Witnesses
“At 15:23hrs on Saturday, 6 September, officers and the London Ambulance Service responded to reports of an injured person on Romford Road, Newham E7. A woman in her 40s was found with potentially life-changing and life-threatening injuries. A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, and false imprisonment. He remains in police custody. An investigation has been launched and enquiries continue,” said a Met Police spokesperson.
Romford Road Shut Both Ways
Newham Council confirmed Romford Road is closed in both directions due to the serious traffic incident. Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes while investigations are ongoing.
