A woman in her 70s has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a freak accident involving a bus in Greenhithe this morning.

Emergency Crew Lift Bus to Free Trapped Pensioner

The dramatic incident happened just after 12.20pm on Thursday, November 30, on London Road. Fire crews used an airbag to lift the bus off the trapped woman, believed to be a local resident. She was then rushed to hospital by land ambulance after doctors from the Kent Air Ambulance stabilised her at the scene.

Road Closures and Police Investigation Underway

London Road and Knockhall Chase remain sealed off as emergency services and police investigate the crash. Kent Police confirmed the serious collision, warning the closures could last for several hours.

Kent Police said: “Officers were called at 12.20pm on Thursday 30 November 2017 to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a bus in Knockhall Chase, Greenhithe. Serious injuries have been reported. Emergency services are currently at the scene and a road closure is in place.”
