20 Defibrillators Hit the Roads

Essex roads policing officers have armed themselves with 20 life-saving defibrillators, fitted across 10 vehicles in Chigwell and another 10 in Stanway. These game-changing devices have been in action for the past month, ready to shock lives back in emergencies.

Officers Trained, Ready to React

Every officer behind the wheel has been trained to operate the defibrillators. This vital gear is now part of their standard training, equipping them to tackle cardiac arrests on the spot.

Preserving Life is the Priority

Inspector Jason Dearsley said: “A key element of being an officer is to preserve life, and the defibrillators will help us try and save people in the worst possible situations.”

He added that with officers covering the entire county, these devices can be deployed swiftly after crashes or sudden illnesses anywhere in Essex.

Top Brass Praise the Move

Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, welcomed the news: “It’s vital equipment that simply makes the difference between life and death. With more police on roads and in communities, help can arrive faster and save lives.”
