Man in Critical Condition After Police Restraint at North London Hospital
A man in his fifties was rushed to Whittington Hospital’s ICU on Monday, left in a critical condition following a tense police incident in Camden.
Chaos on Euston Road: Clothes Set on Fire, Threats Made
Police say the man was acting erratically, setting his clothes ablaze and threatening passersby. Officers were called to Euston Road after multiple distress reports.
He was taken to a nearby north London medical facility for assessment. There, the man grew agitated, prompting officers to use PAVA spray and restrain him. He lost consciousness and was immediately taken to hospital.
Police Watchdog Launches Investigation
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed an inquiry into the actions of Metropolitan Police officers during the incident.
An independent investigation into the actions of Metropolitan Police Service officers during an incident where a man was restrained at a hospital is underway,” said the IOPC. “The man remains in critical but stable condition.”
