Chertsey Man Jailed for Eight Years Over Horrific Berkshire Sex Attack
Farai Maumbe Found Guilty of Multiple Sex Crimes After Chilling Verdict
Farai Maumbe, 43, from Nightingale Avenue, Chertsey, was locked up for eight years following a sickening sexual assault in Berkshire. A unanimous jury at Reading Crown Court found him guilty of two counts of sexual assault by penetration, one count of rape, intentional strangulation, and an additional sexual assault charge after a five-day trial ending 12 December 2023.
Victim Brutally Attacked in Her Own Home
The terrifying assault unfolded on 20 May 2023 when Maumbe turned up at the victim’s house. Despite her desperate pleas and resistance, he forced himself on her, sexually assaulted and raped her, even strangling her during the vicious attack.
“No means yes to me,” Maumbe coldly told his victim the following day when confronted.
Swift Police Action Leads to Justice
- Maumbe was arrested just two days later on 22 May 2023
- Charged on 21 December 2023
- Sentenced on 13 February 2024 to eight years behind bars
Thames Valley Police hailed the victim’s bravery in stepping forward and ensuring Maumbe was brought to justice.
