A 20-year-old Nepalese student has died after being hit by a car tearing down a residential street at more than double the speed limit in east London. Now, grime star Ghetts has been jailed for 12 years over the fatal crash.
Rapper Ghetts Sentenced for Deadly Crash
Justin Clarke-Samuel, aka Ghetts, 41, admitted causing Yubin Tamang’s death by dangerous driving. At the Old Bailey, it emerged he was racing at over 60mph in a 30mph zone on Redbridge Lane East, Ilford, when he struck the student on the evening of 18 October 2025.
Ghetts was also slammed for drink-driving, registering more than one and a half times the legal limit after downing three glasses of brandy. Horror followed as Ghetts fled the scene. An Uber driver stumbled across Tamang’s body, initially mistaking him for a “bundle of clothes.”
Crash Evidence Links Ghetts to the Kill
Police tied damage on Ghetts’ BMW M5 directly to the collision. The car was later spotted near his Woodford Green home with a smashed windscreen, bonnet, and bumper.
Family Devastated as Ghetts Faces Justice
“Justin Clarke-Samuel has stolen our son’s future and ours with it. We can never forgive him for what he has done.” – The Tamang Family
Shani Taggart from the Crown Prosecution Service said Ghetts “knew he was in no fit state to drive.” This tragic case is a stark warning about the deadly consequences of drink-driving.
