A man has been arrested and charged following disturbing reports of inappropriate behaviour inside a car parked near a primary school in Portslade.

Police Called After Worried Public Spot Suspicious Man

Members of the public raised alarms about a man sitting in a vehicle near Peter Gladwin Primary School on Drove Road. Officers arrived swiftly on Thursday morning and detained the suspect after catching him in the act.

Suspect Charged with Outraging Public Decency

Sussex Police confirmed that 50-year-old Ben Wheeler, of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of outraging public decency. Wheeler was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today.

“We’d like to remind the public of their responsibility not to post any comments which could prejudice the right to a fair trial,” Sussex Police said.

Investigation Ongoing as Community Stunned

The incident happened on the 11th and 12th of March, sparking concerns from local residents when the man’s behaviour was first reported. Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
