In a shocking pub brawl on July 2, a man was brutally attacked with a glass bottle on Birmingham’s High Street. Police launched an investigation and combed through CCTV footage, leading to the arrests of two local men.
Omar Clarke Jailed for Glass Bottle Assault
Omar Clarke, 35, of Beech Dean Grove, pleaded guilty to section 18 grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon in public. On Thursday, March 26, Birmingham Crown Court sentenced him to four years in prison.
Second Attacker Given Suspended Sentence
Herbert Palmer, 59, from Parkhouse Drive, also pleaded guilty—this time to section 20 grievous bodily harm. He received a 16-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.
How the Attack Unfolded
The CCTV footage revealed a tense scene. The victim tried to break up an argument between Clarke and a woman. Suddenly, Clarke shoved the man before striking him with the glass bottle. Palmer, nearby, quickly joined the assault. Thanks to the officers’ sharp local knowledge, both men were swiftly identified and brought to justice.
