Baby Preston Davey Dies Under Tragic Circumstances
Preston Davey, just 13 months old, died after being rushed to Blackpool Victoria Hospital at 7.15pm on July 27, 2023. The toddler was in the process of being adopted by two men, now charged over his death.
Serious Charges for Jamie Varley and John McGowan-Fazackerly
Jamie Varley, 37, stands accused of murder, sexual assault of a child under 13, grievous bodily harm, five counts of child cruelty, plus making and distributing indecent images. His co-defendant, John McGowan-Fazackerly, 32, faces charges of causing or allowing the death of a child, two counts of child cruelty, and sexual assault of a child under 13.
Duo Deny All Charges Ahead of Trial
Both men, from Grimsargh in Preston, Lancashire, deny all allegations. They are due to appear before Preston Crown Court for an initial hearing today, Thursday 16 April 2026.
Lengthy Trial to Follow
The full trial is expected to last around six weeks, with the court set to dive deep into the shocking case.
