Adam Hall, 43, has been sentenced to a life sentence at Newcastle Crown Court after being found guilty of multiple rapes and intentionally transmitting HIV. The sexual predator, formerly from the Washington area in Tyne and Wear, targeted seven victims between 2016 and 2023.

Shocking Crimes and Harsh Sentences

Hall was convicted of five counts of rape and seven counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent through knowingly passing on the HIV virus. Additionally, he faced charges for supplying the drug GHB and obstructing police by refusing to unlock his phone. He must serve at least 23 years behind bars before he can apply for parole and will remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.

Lengthy Investigation Reveals Horrific Details

Northumbria Police described the investigation as highly complex, clocking up 35,000 hours of officer work. Authorities gathered 450 victim statements, 1,600 documents, and examined 670 pieces of evidence. During the trial, 37 witnesses gave testimony over four months. The court heard that while an undetectable HIV viral load prevents transmission, Hall knowingly had infectious levels of the virus and deliberately had unprotected sex, often raping his victims.

Only Second UK Conviction for Intentional HIV Transmission

Hall’s conviction marks only the second time someone has been found guilty in the UK of intentionally transmitting HIV. His crimes have left a trail of devastation and fear across the community.

“This sentence reflects the gravity of Hall’s actions and the courage of the victims who came forward,” said a Northumbria Police spokesperson.
