Two lorries collided this morning on the M4 motorway between junctions 13 and 14 in Berkshire, causing major disruption and a lengthy clean-up operation, Thames Valley Police have confirmed. The crash involved two HGVs, with one driver suffering minor injuries. Police are investigating dangerous driving, with mobile phone use suspected.
Prosecco Spills Across Motorway
One lorry was transporting 20 tonnes of Prosecco, which spilled along the carriageway following the collision. Debris and broken glass were scattered across the road, requiring extensive clearance efforts.
Container Knocked Off Lorry
The other HGV was carrying an empty shipping container that was dislodged during the crash. This added to the debris and complicated the clean-up process on the busy motorway.
Driver Faces Dangerous Driving Probe
Police revealed that one driver is currently under investigation for dangerous driving. Early indications suggest that mobile phone use may have been a factor in the crash.
Safety Warning From Police
Thames Valley Police officials reminded motorists that using mobile phones at the wheel not only puts lives at risk but also carries penalty points and fines.
