105-Year-Old Man Killed in Uckfield Road Horror
Tragedy Strikes on Busy Bell Farm Road
A 105-year-old man has died after being hit by a car while crossing the road on his mobility scooter in Uckfield. The collision happened at around 1:44pm on Saturday, 5 April, on the B2102 Bell Farm Road, just east of the Brookside junction.
The man, a local resident, was struck by a blue Ford KA as he tried to cross the street. Emergency crews rushed to the scene but sadly, he was pronounced dead at once. His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
Driver Unscathed, Investigation Underway
The driver, an 87-year-old woman from Ringmer, escaped injury. No arrests have been made so far. Sussex Police are probing the incident and have asked witnesses to come forward.
Police Plea for Witnesses
A Sussex Police spokesperson said:
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of life in this tragic accident. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the deceased. We are currently investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision and urge any witnesses to come forward.”

Local Community Left Reeling
The shock of the elderly man’s death has hit the Uckfield community hard. One local said:
“It’s heartbreaking to hear that such an elderly gentleman lost his life like this. Bell Farm Road can be quite busy, and we all need to be extra cautious. My thoughts are with his family.”
