Armed Stand-Off Shuts Down Pagham Road as Police Launch Drama
Harbour Road in Pagham is on lockdown after police swooped on a tense incident involving a 72-year-old man with a gun. Authorities have sealed off the area, setting up a tight cordon on nearby streets.
Residents have been told to stay indoors and bolt all doors and windows while the drama unfolds.
Armed Police Swarm Scene
Witnesses spotted a black Land Rover blocking Harbour Road, surrounded by armed officers and an ambulance on site. Emergency services rushed to the property at around 4.10pm on Sunday, 28 August, after receiving reports the elderly man was acting threateningly and was armed.
Woman Safe, 72-Year-Old Still Inside
A woman known to the man was inside the property but has since left and is reported safe and well. The man remains alone inside the house, with police maintaining their cordon and road closure.
Negotiations Underway
Firearms officers and negotiators are currently at the scene, working to resolve the standoff peacefully. No injuries have been reported so far.
