Body Found in Flat Stairwell Sparks Police Probe in New Addington

Police launched a major investigation after a man’s body was discovered early Monday morning in the stairwell of a block of flats on Walton Green Road, New Addington.

Shock at the Scene as Blue Sheeting Shuts Down Stairwell

Officers from the Metropolitan Police arrived at around 6.30am on 24th February 2025. They found the man, believed to be in his 40s, unconscious in the building’s stairwell and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Blue forensic sheeting now surrounds the area as cops maintain a tight cordon. The identity of the victim and cause of death remain unknown, with the investigation ongoing.

Neighbours Left Shaken by Grim Discovery

Local residents expressed alarm after the grim find. One neighbour, who wished to stay anonymous, said: “It’s frightening to see all the police and the blue sheets. We don’t know what’s happened, but it’s unsettling to have something like this so close to home.”

Police Confirm Death Not Suspicious, Ask for Privacy

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said the death is being treated as unexpected but non-suspicious. Officers continue their inquiries with the crime scene still in place.
