Cyclist Seriously Injured in Gosport Crash – Air Ambulance Called
A cyclist was rushed to hospital after a collision with a car in Bridgemary, Gosport, just before 6pm last night. Emergency crews scrambled to Nobes Avenue after the crash, shutting the road between Kev Jones Convenience Store and Keys Road for investigations.
Air Ambulance Touches Down Amid Growing Crowd
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance landed in Nobes field next to the local shopping parade as worried onlookers gathered. Medical teams treated the cyclist at the scene before rushing him to Southampton General Hospital. The patient, a man in his 30s, travelled in a land ambulance with the air ambulance doctor onboard.
Eyewitnesses Aid Injured Cyclist
Nearby residents comforted the injured rider and wrapped him in blankets before paramedics arrived, helping to keep him stable amid the chaos.
Police Probe Crash Blamed on Cyclist
Hampshire Road Policing Officers are investigating after reports suggest the cyclist rode into the path of a green Citroën Picasso. A spokeswoman from South Central Ambulance Service confirmed:
“We sent a rapid response vehicle, a rapid response crew and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. We treated one male patient in his 30s for serious injuries. He was treated at the scene and taken by land ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.”
Traffic remains blocked as police continue their inquiries.
