Shocking Theft: Elderly Woman’s Purse Snatched in Asda
On Saturday, June 18, an elderly woman had her purse stolen right from an Asda trolley in a brazen daylight robbery.
Around 9:00am, one man distracted her by asking about items in the store. While her attention was diverted, a second man reached into her bag and made off with a purse containing a large sum of cash.
Police Hunt Two Suspects Caught on Camera
Detective Inspector Lisa Milligan said, “We are very keen to speak to the two men pictured, as we believe they may have vital information about this incident that would help our investigations.” She described the crime as heinous, especially since it happened where the victim should feel safe while shopping for essentials.
Community Urged to Take Precautions
Authorities warn shoppers to be cautious: always zip up handbags, separate cash into different compartments or clothing pockets, and stay alert when shopping.
Supermarket staff, neighbours, and community members are urged to spread the word, especially to vulnerable or elderly people.
