Tragic Crash on Ormskirk Road Leaves Two Dead

Specialist officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are hunting for witnesses after a fatal road crash in Wigan. The smash happened at the junction of Ormskirk Road and Billinge Road at around 7:15pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

Peugeot Hits Suzuki Motorcycle Carrying Two

Police say a Peugeot 408 collided with a Suzuki GSR750 motorbike carrying a rider and a passenger. Both motorcyclists were thrown off and suffered serious injuries in the impact.

Two Men Dead, Driver in Custody

  1. 21-year-old man died instantly at the scene.
  2. 56-year-old man later died in hospital despite medical efforts.

The Peugeot driver, a 41-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and causing serious injury. He remains in police custody as inquiries continue.

PC Philip Drummond, leading the probe, said: “This is another extremely upsetting and tragic collision in recent days.”
