Officers Arrest Several and Forcefully Clear Roads
Multiple arrests were made after tensions escalated. One woman was forcibly dragged from sitting in front of a police van blocking a busy road and moved onto the grass, as officers tried to restore order.
Assistant Commissioner Helen Ball Breaks Silence
“My deepest condolences remain with Sarah Everard’s family and friends,” said Helen Ball. “The Met is still shocked and saddened by the tragic circumstances surrounding her death.”
“Though the planned Reclaim These Streets vigil was cancelled due to Covid-19 risks, hundreds laid flowers safely throughout the day.”
