Power Cut Hits Bognor Regis: 34+ Homes and Businesses Left in the Dark
Blackout Strikes Just After 7.20pm
A sudden power failure plunged more than 34 homes and businesses across Bognor Regis and nearby areas into darkness this evening. The blackout began just after 7.20pm, leaving residents and local shops thrown into chaos.
Half Back on Within Minutes, Rest Expected by 9.15pm
Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) engineers acted fast, restoring power to nearly half of the affected properties within minutes. The remaining customers were told to expect a full return of electricity by 9.15pm. Many businesses were forced to close during the outage.
SSE Launch Investigation as Repairs Continue
The energy company has launched an investigation into the cause of the fault. Contractors are working hard to fix the system and prevent further blackouts.
“The cause is still being investigated – the priority is to get customers restored and then they will investigate and engineers can check what happened,” an SSE spokesperson said.
“We apologise to anyone that was affected and for their patience while the engineers got them back connected.”
