Southampton Man Nabbed for Attempted Murder After Brutal Assault
A 35-year-old man from Southampton was arrested last night, suspected of attempted murder following a violent assault on Kent Street, Northam.
Nighttime Attack Sends Victim to Hospital in Serious Condition
Police rushed to the scene just after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, following reports from the South Central Ambulance Service. Officers found a man in his 40s badly injured and rushed him to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
Second Arrest Made — Woman Accused of Aiding Crime
Initially held on suspicion of assault, the injured victim’s worsening condition led police to upgrade the charge to attempted murder against the Southampton man. Police also arrested a 34-year-old Southampton woman on suspicion of intentionally assisting or encouraging the offence.
Police Say No Wider Threat — Investigation Continues
“All parties involved are known to each other. There is no wider risk to public safety at this stage,”
a police spokesperson said. Officers will maintain a presence in the area as inquiries proceed. Local residents with concerns are urged to speak to officers on the scene.
