Detectives from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary’s Major Crime Team have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 22-year-old man in Gosport’s Bridgemary area early this morning.
Man Fatally Assaulted on Keyes Road
The victim was found seriously assaulted on Keyes Road at 2:32am on Friday 24th November. Despite emergency efforts, he died from his injuries. Police have informed the young man’s family.
A red Vauxhall Corsa, involved in a collision at the scene, is now a key focus of the investigation.
Police Appeal for Dashcam and Witness Footage
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Gillooly said: “We are working to establish how many people and who was involved in assaulting the man who has died. This is a shocking incident for the family and local community. We’re using specialist teams to push enquiries forward fast.
“Locals are crucial in helping us identify who was in the area at the time. Anyone with dashcam or doorbell footage, or who saw the red Vauxhall Corsa in Fareham and Gosport early this morning, should come forward immediately.”
Community Support and Arrest Made
Chief Inspector Chris Spellerberg, Gosport District Commander, added: “Our Neighbourhood Policing Team will patrol Nobes Avenue and Keyes Road in coming days. We encourage anyone with concerns to speak to our officers. This kind of violence is rare here, and we’re working hard to reassure residents.”
