Detectives are on the hunt for a man following a shocking attempted rape in Islington’s Gillespie Park.
Woman Escapes Brutal Attack in Busy Islington Park
The horrifying incident took place just before 7pm on Tuesday, 14 October. A woman walking through Gillespie Park was approached by a man hiding near the bushes. He then tried to rape her.
Miraculously, she managed to break free and raise the alarm. Police revealed that another unknown man gave chase to the attacker before disappearing. Officers believe this mystery Good Samaritan could hold the key to cracking the case.
Manhunt Underway – Suspect Description Released
- Suspect: Black male, about 5’8” tall, dressed in dark clothing
- Time & Place: Around 6:50pm near Gillespie Park, a busy commuter route to Finsbury Park and Arsenal stations
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Ridley slammed the “vile attack” and vowed: “We are working fast to track down this suspect.”
“We urgently want to speak to the man who chased after the attacker. He may have crucial information to help us catch him.”
“Anyone commuting through the area who saw or heard anything, or noticed suspicious behaviour recently, should come forward. Even small details could crack this case.”
Police Appeal: Witnesses Needed Now
A crime scene remains active as officers carry out their investigation. The victim is receiving specialist support.
