Tragic Fire in Portsmouth Claims Man’s Life
A man has died after a devastating blaze ripped through a terraced house in Paulsgrove, Portsmouth. Hampshire Police and Hampshire Fire and Rescue have launched a full investigation following the fatal fire.
Fire Erupts Late Saturday Night
Emergency services were called to a two-storey home on Harleston Road just after 11pm on Saturday, January 13. Two fire crews from Cosham, along with teams from Portchester and Southsea, rushed to tackle the intense blaze on the property’s second floor.
Firefighters Battle Fierce Flames
- Four sets of breathing apparatus used
- Two hose reels and a covering jet deployed
- Tactical ventilation and an aerial ladder platform in action
The courageous crews worked hard to stop the fire and smoke from spreading to neighbouring houses. The fire was brought under control within 50 minutes.
Fatal Outcome and Ongoing Investigation
The man was found inside the house and was pulled out by firefighters. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Hampshire Constabulary has informed the next of kin but has not disclosed further details as the investigation is ongoing.
