Residents near Spring Vale, Greenhithe, are being warned to keep windows and doors shut tonight. A massive fire has broken out at an abandoned builders’ merchants, sending thick smoke billowing across the area.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene just before 8pm, deploying four fire engines to tackle the raging blaze. The volume of smoke has sparked an urgent safety advisory.
