Bridgend Jail in Crisis: Violence, Stabbings, and Barricades

The exact cause of the unrest is unclear, but tensions inside the Category B privately run G4S prison have boiled over. Prisoners have been stabbed in the chaos, with air ambulances landing to airlift the critically injured to hospital. One wing of the prison has been barricaded, making it harder for authorities to regain control.

Phone lines into the prison have been cut, leaving families desperate for news and unable to contact loved ones trapped inside. Law enforcement agencies and prison officials are racing against the clock to quell the disorder.

Tornado Team Mobilised to Tackle Prison Disturbance

The Tornado team, experts in handling prison riots, have been deployed to contain the unrest and protect inmates and staff caught in the turmoil. HMP Parc management report that staff swiftly dealt with two separate short-lived incidents on May 31 involving around 20 prisoners and a smaller altercation between three inmates requiring hospital treatment.

A spokesperson for HMP Parc said:

“Staff at HMP Parc swiftly resolved two short-lived incidents involving prisoners on Friday, with no officers injured. Those involved will receive the strongest possible punishments, including criminal prosecution.”

Riots Highlight Urgent Need for Prison Safety Measures

The violent outbreak at HMP Parc is a stark warning over the fragile state of prison security. With violence on the rise inside this private facility, urgent action is needed to protect both prisoners and staff. Authorities continue to fight to restore calm as updates emerge.
