Walker Hit by Van in Farnham While Trying to Keep Cool

A pedestrian taking a stroll in Bagshot Lea to beat the heat was seriously injured after being hit by a Vauxhall van. The crash happened just after 8.20pm on Weybourne Lane last night (19th July).

Serious Injuries and Road Closure

The walker stepped off the pavement and was struck by the van. Police say the driver stopped at the scene. The victim was rushed to Southampton General Hospital with serious head and leg injuries.

Officers sealed off Weybourne Lane for several hours, blocking both ends with police vehicles. Crash investigators conducted skid tests and measured the scene through the night. The road finally reopened just after 1.30am on Wednesday morning.

Residents Warn: Accident Waiting to Happen

Locals say Weybourne Lane is a rat run used to dodge traffic. One resident said,

“There are skid marks up and down the road. I’ve lost count of the times vehicles have nearly hit each other or people crossing. Drivers use it as a shortcut to the Farnham bypass.”

Investigation Ongoing

Police have questioned the van driver but have not confirmed any arrests or charges. The crash has sparked fresh concerns about safety on the busy road.
