Emergency Alert at Southampton Airport After Plane Forced to Land
Southampton Airport was placed on full alert after a passenger plane made an emergency landing due to technical issues.
Emergency Landing Sparks Major Response
The drama unfolded just after 11.20am this morning (Friday 10 February 2017) when a flight reported difficulties mid-air. Pilots sounded the alarm over a “technical issue” discovered while airborne, forcing an immediate emergency landing.
Fire Crews Rush to Scene
The airport’s emergency team jumped into action, summoning Hampshire Fire and Rescue to bolster on-site fire engines. Five fire appliances came from Eastleigh station alongside teams from St Mary’s and Hightown, all standing by on the runway as a precaution.
Safe Landing, No Disruptions
A spokesman for Southampton Airport said: “Emergency services responded at around 11.30am with police after we were advised that a private aircraft had developed an engine fault. The plane landed safely without further incident and normal operations at the airport have not been affected.”
