Fans of the iconic British soap opera “EastEnders” might need to adjust their viewing schedules this week as BBC One experiences disruptions due to football matches.
The soap has faced irregular airing times recently owing to various sporting events, and this week is no exception, with football causing a shake-up in the schedule.
Tonight’s episode (February 27) of “EastEnders” has been replaced with Match of the Day Live coverage starting from 7:30 pm, featuring the fifth-round match between Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United at Ewood Park. Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer will present the match, with commentary provided by Guy Mowbray.
Tomorrow’s episode (February 28) is also cancelled due to FA Cup coverage, featuring Liverpool versus Southampton at Anfield, with kick-off at 8 pm.
However, fans can catch “EastEnders” on BBC One on the following days this week:
- Monday, February 26: 7:30 pm
- Tuesday, February 27: No episode due to FA Cup match (Blackburn Rovers v Newcastle United)
- Wednesday, February 28: No episode due to FA Cup match (Liverpool v Southampton)
- Thursday, February 29: 7:30 pm

Additionally, viewers can watch “EastEnders” on BBC iPlayer from 6 am, Monday to Thursday.
Reacting to the schedule changes, fans expressed mixed feelings, with some suggesting that sporting events should have their dedicated channels to avoid disruptions to regular programming.
“EastEnders” continues to air on Thursday from 7:30 pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
