Woman assaulted and robbed at bus stop in Waterlooville

Police hunt thug who attacked a woman waiting for a bus in Waterlooville before stealing her belongings.

Morning attack on Eagle Avenue

At 8.45am on Sunday, January 1, a 32-year-old woman was waiting for a bus on Eagle Avenue when a man approached her. He assaulted her, grabbed her bag and jacket, then ran off.

Victim gives chase but thief escapes

The woman chased the attacker, who climbed over a wall to get away. He stole a long green Primark hooded jacket and a black leather-look handbag with a gold chain. Inside was a Samsung S7 phone in a lilac case, an iPhone 6, and three bank cards.

The victim suffered minor bruising to her neck after the man grabbed her.

Police descriptions and plea for witnesses

  • Suspect: White, around 6ft tall, very slim
  • Clothing: Blue jeans and red hooded jacket

“The victim screamed during the robbery, so someone nearby may have heard or seen something,” said Detective Constable Pete Bambury. “We urge anyone with information or who may have found the stolen items to come forward.”
