Career Burglar Shaun Greening Locked Up for Over Four Years
Shaun Greening, 47, a drifter with no fixed address, was slammed with a hefty prison sentence at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday, 9 March 2023. He admitted to burglary offences not only in Dorset but also across South Wales and Sussex.
Prison Time for Jewellery Heist and More
Greening received three years and four months for the Dorset break-in, plus an extra 16 months for his other crimes. The total sentence now sees him behind bars for nearly five years.
Luxury Watches and Jewellery Stolen While Homeowners Away
The heist happened on Tuesday, 30 August 2022, in Lake Avenue. The homeowners were out all day, from 8.20am to 5pm, leaving their house securely locked. On their return, they discovered their home had been broken into. Thieves forced entry, ransacked the place, and made off with valuable watches and jewellery.
Forensics Crack the Case
Police quickly responded and forensic experts gathered crucial evidence that tied Greening directly to the crime scene.
Detective Constable Christian Bryant, from Dorset Police’s Priority Crime Team, said: “We recognise the significant impact dwelling burglaries have on victims and we will strive to secure all possible evidence to identify offenders and bring them to justice.
“In this case we were able to use forensic evidence to link the defendant to the scene and ensure he was held accountable for his offending.”
